Laboratory Services

Proudly located inside Huron Medical Center, a CAP certified, CLIA accredited Laboratory is available to assist your physician in your overall care. The Laboratory is equipped to provide testing for annual screenings, routine diagnostics and emergency requests. Supported by our partnership with the American Red Cross, a full service blood bank with transfusion services are on site.

Offering a wide array of testing in house, the Laboratory is contracted with Joint Venture Hospital Laboratories (JVHL) allowing for billing through most insurances, as well as a partnership with Quest Diagnostics in the event your insurance requires testing be sent out.

Our lab is staffed 24 hours/7 days a week. If you require laboratory services outside of normal outpatient hours, we can accommodate your needs. Please keep in mind after hours services may require a waiting period as the needs of the more urgent patients are met first.

Outpatient Hours:

Monday thru Friday: 5:30am – 6pm

Saturday: 8am – 12 (noon)

Closed on Sundays and Holidays

Walk-ins are welcome! Scheduling is not required for most testing*. Please stop at registration located in the main lobby of the hospital before presenting to the Laboratory. We accept test requisitions from all physicians and mid-level providers.

The following testing will require an appointment.

• Glucose Tolerance tests

• Therapeutic Phlebotomy

• Urea Breath Tests

• Breath Alcohol testing

• Platelet Function testing

In an effort to support all areas of the hospital, the Laboratory staff has experience providing services to patients of all ages. Please keep in mind some blood work requires the patient to be fasting, (no food or drink, except water, for 12-14 hours prior to testing) so it is important to follow the instructions of your healthcare provider.

The following tests require 12 to 14 hour fasting.

• Triglycerides

• Lipid panel

• Glucose Tolerance testing

In addition to routine blood work, our Laboratory serves as a controlled collection site for most drug testing, including, but not limited to; DOT and NON DOT pre-employment urine drug screens.
